1. Brook Trout are to be added to the threatened species list which will provide the species additional federal funding for the protection of the species.

2. If genetic differences are found in the nearby future to distinguish the northern strain of brook trout from the southern strain, the northern variety will not be included in this petition

3. Brook trout are to become a single-hook, artificial bait, catch-and-release fish only.  Brook trout can still be a sport fish under the restrictions of threatened species which differs from that of endangered species.

4. A list of select fly fishing only streams with intact populations of brook trout throughout the southern Appalachian Mountains should be implemented by the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Commission.

    Brook Trout for life!

    Brook trout as the only native deserve all protection that is reasonable and possible. Catch and Release harms no one. Long term viability of “our” fish should have focus in our rules and regulations.
